American Curl kittens are born with normal ears, which begin to curl between one and two weeks of age. Pet-quality Curl kittens may have nearly straight ears, and a show-quality cat may have ears with a backward curl between 90 and 180 degrees. American Curl breeders work with a wide variety of colors and coat patterns. American Curls are found in both shorthaired and longhaired varieties and thus have variable grooming requirements.
