Description

The Toyger breed was originally created by crossing Bengal cats with striped tabby domestic shorthairs. Careful breeding has produced a cat that is moving toward the appearance of a "toy tiger", with more rounded ears, distinct and strongly contrasting striping pattern, and circular striping patterns on the face. The preferred coloration is an orange-tan background with strong black striping, to echo the bright orange and black of a Bengal tiger.

Interesting breed fact: The breed was originally created to draw attention to the endangerment of wild tigers.

Acceptance: This breed is accepted for by TICA.
