About The Persian The iconic Persian is one of the first cats many people think of when they hear "pedigreed cat". From their round eyes in open faces to their heavy-boned cobby bodies, everything about this breed is soft curves and sweetness. They are bred in a stunning array of colors and patterns.
Persians are adaptable family cats who can fit themselves into nearly every type of household. With their soft voices and expressive eyes, they are effective communicators who can let you know what they want. While they aren't given to jumping or climbing, Persians enjoy play as much as the next cat, but they also love to observe the world around them. Persians do require daily combing to keep free of painful mats, as well as regular cleaning around the eyes.
Did You Know? There is no such thing as a "teacup Persian". The claim is that these will stay kitten-sized, but you can't know how big a cat will get until it's full grown. Often, such cats are heavily inbred, producing cats with serious health issues and short lifespans. If you're interested in a more petite Persian, females tend to be smaller than males. Healthy, responsibly-bred Persians should not be much less than 6-7 pounds as adults.
